Burberry 150th Anniversary, Icons Collection, Couture in the City Fashion Blog

To celebrate Burberry's 150th anniversary, Burberry introduced their Burberry Icons Collection for 2006. Previewed during the Burberry Prorsum A/W 2006/7 show in Milan, the collection celebrates the company's rich heritage and archives. It showcases their portfolio of signature icons: the trench coat, gabardine fabric, D-ring buckles, Burberry check, quilting, as well as the signature equestrian knight device.As one of the longest standing British fashion institutions today, I thought I'd take this post to introduce some of my favourite items from their Icons Collection.

The Manor Bag


This is a key accessory from the collection which will launch worldwide in September. The Manor bag has quilted leather with gold hardware detailing including rivets featuring the equestrian knight logo, leather hand-stitched D-ring buckle strap attachments and a subtle jacquard lining. Will be available in trench, black, red and oxblood leather as well as an exploded gabardine check.

The Edna

This Edna has rolled leather handles and trim with a double snap closure handle wrap. Although the shape is slightly narrower, it takes on the quilted features that is so popular today.

Pale Gold Square Link Bracelet

Gold is the metallic colour of the F/W season so this is perfect if you want to add just a dash of colour to an otherwise dark winter outfit. I love this piece. If only I had the cash...
